(PRWeb) December 23, 2006 -- The traditional Spanish holiday villa is under pressure. Many other European countries like Turkey and Bulgaria are attracting a lot of attention for a variety of reasons and possibly as a result of regular television holiday programs the average holiday maker is getting more adventurous and departing for unusual holidays all over the Globe.

It is no coincidence that up to 1997, Easy Jet flew to just two airports in Spain and by 2003, had increased that to 12 airports in Spain. However in the last few years, nearly every time Easy Jet have added a new destination, it has been to a new country. They now have flights to 17 European countries and most of these are accessible from London's main airports.

This rapid expansion of the low end flight tickets to all these new European countries is either leading the Holiday maker or following them. Either way everyone offering holidays in Europe is having to:

a) Keep their prices sharply competitive.
b) make their holiday destination sound more exciting than everyone else's.
c) offer more facilities for the same money.

In addition, the recent period of sustained low interest rates in the UK has encouraged a surge in overseas property ownership. Most of these new owners are actively marketing their new holiday homes making a double negative hit on existing home owners.

In general terms, it is getting harder each year to get holiday villas fully booked. So be cautious of any sales persons claims of easy rental incomes for six months of the year. Only the holiday villas with the best views and best locations are still managing to keep reasonably booked. It maybe safer to go for a big town apartment or house with a view to take long lets. But then of course you will not be able to also enjoy your investment as a holiday home.

Holiday web site owner David Maynerd advises, "Anyone planning to purchase a holiday home should choose a high quality build that has a really good location and sea views as this definitely increases the chances of good lettings and also its chances of increasing in value. Because in theory, as the number of Holiday Makers is reducing into a rapidly expanding number holiday destinations; any place with a second rate offering is going to suffer. We are already seeing this effect on our web site booking trends."

The web site www.oceanviewvillas.co.uk is a UK-owned website and specializes in Holiday villas with sea views. It holds detailed information on over 200 villas across Europe and visitors can quickly choose and email owners direct.
