Tips for Backpacking Overseas
Not what you were looking for? Continue your search here... Backpacking can be an exciting and cost-effective way to see the world, or some of it anyway. You can have great fun and get fit when you go backpacking. Many younger people spend months of their time backpacking, but there is no reason why an older person cannot do the same thing. Many countries have cheap backpackers hotels or youth hostels to accommodate backpackers. The conditions are certainly not luxurious, but are usually adequate if you don't mind sharing facilities and even bedrooms, sometimes. The best idea is to take as little as possible - the only expensive thing you should have is your cell phone. Keep your money in a wallet that can be hung around your waist or neck for safety. Don't carry a lot of money with you, but ensure you can get it at certain points of your travels. Take a good supply of any medications that you need and a small first-aid kit. Learning a second language, or at least enough to get you by can be useful in case of emergencies. Be sure to contact family and friends frequently to let them know you are safe. You can do this with your cell phone or by using the Internet cafes that are so prevalent these days. The Internet will also tell you which countries best cater for backpackers. Get all the knowledge you can from guidebooks and other travellers before you set off.
